Research

Research in healthy behaviors and health promotion seeks to understand the choices and behaviors of individuals and communities with regard to health. We also evaluate existing and pilot health programs. Much of our scholarly work is done in collaboration across the university and with other institutions.

Our faculty are involved in active research programs that include:

  • Health program evaluation
  • Global health
  • Smoking cessation in specific populations
  • Intervention to increase colon cancer screening rates
  • Health disparities
  • The use of the HPV vaccine in Appalachian Ohio
  • Prevention, detection and treatment of lung cancer
  • Possible causes of childhood obesity
