Many faculty, staff, students and alumni of the Ohio State College of Public Health are traveling to Philadelphia this week for the oldest and largest gathering of public-health professionals in the world. They're heading to the American Public Health Association's Annual Meeting and Exposition, Nov. 7-11, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
This is the 137th year for the event, which annually draws more than 13,000 national and international public-health specialists, physicians, nurses, educators and researchers under one roof. This year's event, themed "Water and Public Health," includes the following activities:
OSU Reception, Ohio Dinner at APHA in Philadelphia, Nov. 9
The College of Public Health will hold a reception at 6 p.m. at Maggiano's Restaurant, 1201 Filbert St., Philadelphia. The event will be followed by the Ohio Public Health Association's annual dinner at the same restaurant. Both events are part of the APHA conference in Philadelphia, Nov. 7-10. Public Health Visit Day 2009, Nov. 11
The Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) will hold Public Health Visit Day from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Nov. 11, at the APHA exhibit hall. This is a unique opportunity to meet the 41 CEPH-accredited schools of public health which will be exhibiting at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Visit Day at APHA is designed for you to discover the rewards of a career in public health. Use this networking opportunity to meet and greet others while learning more about schools of public health and public health careers, and meeting publishers, employers, health-related government agencies and many other public health service organizations. The Ohio State University's College Public Health is an integral part of the most comprehensive health sciences campus in the nation. The college was created in February 2007 by the University Board of Trustees. First established in 1995 as part of the College of Medicine, we are the first and only accredited school of public health in the state of Ohio. Specializations within the college include biostatistics, epidemiology, health behavior and health promotion, environmental health sciences, health services management and policy, veterinary public health and clinical investigations. The college is currently ranked 21st in public health graduate schools by US News & World Report. Its Master of Health Administration program is ranked 12th.
