The Ohio Center for Public Health Preparedness
The Ohio Center for Public Health Preparedness (OCPHP) educates front-line workers in state and local health departments, preparing them to partner with their communities and citizens in the event of a public health emergency like infectious disease, environmental contamination, or a terrorist strike. Created in FY2000 with grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the national network of 27 centers are located in accredited schools and colleges of public health. They have extended their outreach to thousands of public health workers through applied training in targeted technical expertise for real-world crises.
A federal CPHP network of preparedness experts, coordinated by the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH), ensures a strong public health system across the nation. Activities offered by other Centers for Public Health Preparedness in the national network can be found at the Centers for Public Health Preparedness Resource Center, maintained by the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH). This free online catalog provides national learning opportunities with courses and training activities, tools, and educational programs.
