Who We Are

The Prevention Research Center at The Ohio State University's College of Public Health was created in 2009 by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The center is supported by a center director, two senior public health researchers, a nutrition specialist, an interdisciplinary network of faculty, and an advisory council representing neighborhood and health organizations.

What We Do

The Prevention Research Center partners with community members and leaders to develop innovative strategies to promote health and prevent disease. Initial projects focus on preventing childhood obesity in Columbus' south side neighborhoods. The center is committed to supporting communities in their efforts to reduce and prevent childhood obesity through local, evidence-based approaches.
