The Center for HOPES is please to announce that Naomi Adaniya has been selected for the 2008 Doctoral Studies Traineeship Award. Adaniya is a 2006 graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a joint degree in business management and health administration. She was the winner of the Beverly Kushinsky Virany Memorial Award for "achievement in leadership in Wharton, the university as a whole, and the community", and was named the SUMR undergraduate research scholar at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at Penn. She won the Penn Alumni Student Award of Merit and the La Casa Latina Outstanding Leadership Award. She was also a finalist for the the Wharton Dean's Award for Innovation and the Wharton's Dean's Award for Excellence. Her scholarly interests include health services research, health policy, health economics, and healthcare management research. Adaniya has worked as a health care staffer for U.S. Congresswoman Donna Christensen. Earlier this year, she taught healthcare courses at UPTC and at the Naval Academy in Colombia. Her long-term goal is to become an academic researcher in the healthcare field.
