Isaac "Ike" Ferguson, Ph.D, PhD '74, MS '73
Isaac and his wife have lead volunteer medical training teams to several countries in Africa, Eastern Europe and India since retiring 10 1/2 years ago. Having worked as the director of Humanitarian Service and the Thrasher Research Fund for the LDS Church, volunteering has been a natural fit. They have been involved in maternal and newborn care (Helping Babies Breathe, Essential Care for Every/Small Baby, and Helping Mothers Survive: Bleeding after Birth), directed national vision screening initiatives for children in Eastern Europe, and prepared physical rehabilitation centers to construct and fit wheelchairs for needy patients. They have made more than 60 trips to 8 countries during their retirement.
