Olivia G. Nathan, MPH-PEP student, awarded 2022 Whole Person Health Care Champion Award

The Whole Person Health Care Champion Award presented by Medical Mutual recognizes a provider of health & wellness services and/or a patient advocate who has helped patients overcome racial, economic, ability, and/or language barriers to care and/or provided radically inclusive LGBTQ+ and/or HIV/AIDS healthcare. 

Olivia Nathan

The Institute is proud to announce that Olivia G. Nathan, PharmD, RPh, AAHIVP, is the recipient of the 2022 Whole Person Health Care Champion Award Presented by Medical Mutual. She will be honored at the Transforming Care Awards Ceremony Presented by ViiV Healthcare as part of the Transforming Care Conference on October 18, 2022 at the Fawcett Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.

Dr. Nathan is a Board-Certified Specialist in HIV from the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM). Olivia was also recognized as one of five finalists featured as an Everyday Hero for her work to vaccinate communities of color and educate Black women on HIV prevention, which was created though the combined efforts of The Columbus Dispatch, Dispatch Magazine, and ThisWeek Community News.

Olivia is sincere in delivering culturally competent care to patients in underserved communities; advocating for health equity and creating conditions that improve health and address the social determinants of health. She is passionate about improving lives and preventing illness through the appropriate use of medication for underserved populations. This passion led Olivia to The Ohio State University where she is a currently a Master of Public Health Candidate (2024).

She is equally passionate about access to healthcare for Deaf and hard-of-hearing patients. She uses her fluency in American Sign Language to champion their rights. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Her favorite quote is, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
