Career Tips for ALL Students
- Don’t give up on searching for a job/internship! The process may take longer than usual, but employers are still hiring.
- All students should continue to search and apply for positions through Handshake.
- It is a great time to create a LinkedIn profile and begin networking virtually.
- Do your research and set aside time weekly to search and apply for opportunities.
- Make sure your resume and cover letter are up-to-date and look professional.
- Know the Career Services Team is available to assist. Take advantage of virtual drop- in hours or schedule an appointment by contacting 614-292-8350
- If you are feeling overwhelmed as you search for positions remotely, Ohio State's Counseling and Consultation Service Office is here to support you. They have specific resources and services to help support your mental health and wellness during this pandemic. CPH also has a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Cody McMillan available for individual appointments.
Remote Micro-Internships with (Parker Dewey)
Through Micro-Internships, students can demonstrate their skills, explore career paths, and develop their professional networks. Learn more about the value of Micro-Internships and Parker Dewey. Parker Dewey is a network of highly-motivated Career Launchers and business professionals working together on Micro-Internships. As a consulting firm, Parker Dewey helps companies more effectively complete tasks and improve hiring. They do this by contracting with college students and recent graduates who want to work on short-term, professional projects so that they can generate income while demonstrating capabilities and gaining practical experience. Advice for students that can’t find an Internship or Job (Continue to Build Skills)
- Pick up a new skill set through online courses and tutorials;
- Learn another language;
- Create a website or online portfolio;
- Ask professors if they can help with their research;
- Volunteer in the community;
- Manage a website or social media for a local organization;
- Create sample communication and marketing materials; and
- Conduct informational interviews with alumni to start building relationships.

- Utilize LinkedIN and begin networking virtually
- Make sure your resume is updated and practice interviewing.
- If you are in need searching for practicum opportunities utilize the Practicum Opportunties that are on the CPH Website many of them are still available.
- Make an appointment with Dawn Williams if you need assistance with finding a practicum, resume review or interviewing.
