Health and community leaders gathered at the Ohio Union on Oct. 13 and 14 for the 2023 Equity through Diversity, Action and Learning Conference, cosponsored by the college, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Columbus Public Health. Keynote speaker Eugenia South, assistant professor of emergency medicine at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, spoke about her work transforming Philadelphia’s vacant lots into community green space, the connections between stress and the physical environment and structural barriers to health equity. She encouraged the audience to spend time thinking about their purpose and to prioritize their focus accordingly.
