Sora Al-Faris, Maxwell Cowan, Layla Drummonds, Ismail Jadun and Snehil Pulluri awarded top prize

Four teams of College of Public Health students spent Saturday tackling a real-world public health challenge as part of this spring’s CPH Case Competition held at the Ohio Union. The teams were tasked with identifying barriers to cervical cancer screening and creating a program to address health care provider and patient barriers.
The winning team included Master of Health Administration student Ismail Jadun, Master of Public Health students Maxwell Cowan and Sora Al-Faris, and Bachelor of Science in Public Health students Snehil Pulluri and Layla Drummonds.
The case competition provided public health undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to learn how to collaborate to solve a real public health issue, said Amy Ferketich, associate dean of academic and student affairs.
“Our community partner, Southeast Healthcare, wanted to explore ways to increase the cervical cancer screening rates in their patient population,” Ferketich said. “Overall, the teams did an outstanding job with the case. Our community partners said that they plan to put some of these ideas into practice.”
