Application requirements
Use the Common App for admission to the Columbus campus. Choose public health as your intended major. Students are selected based on their academic record, leadership, work and volunteer experiences, and potential for success. Students admitted to the university will be directly admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Public Health major.
Students transferring from another university must first be admitted to The Ohio State University through Undergraduate Admissions. Once accepted, you can meet with an advisor to declare the specialization you are interested in pursuing by either calling 614-292-8350 to set up an appointment, or email cph@osu.edu.
Any Ohio State student in good standing can request to change into the public health major at any time. Please either email cph@osu.edu or call 614-292-8350 to arrange an appointment with one of our advisors to discuss the major changing process.
Students interested in the Public Health Sociology specialization must have a 2.5 GPA and have a C or higher in either Sociology 1101 or 1102 (or equivalent) or Rural Sociology 1500.
For the Environmental Public Health specialization, students must have a 2.5 GPA and have a C or higher in both Math 1148 and 1149 or 1150 or higher.
