Mandarano enjoys helping students gain confidence

Nicholas Mandarano, a fourth-year PhD student in biostatistics, was awarded the 2024-25 Graduate Associate Teaching Award, Ohio State’s highest recognition for exceptional teaching by a graduate student.
Mandarano, who teaches two sections of STAT 1430: Statistics for the Business Sciences, said his favorite part of teaching is helping students grow in confidence, both in and outside the classroom.
“There's not much that's quite as rewarding as the look on a student's face when the light bulb goes on,” he said. “You realize that you've just helped them witness that they are capable of accomplishing more than they often think they ever could, academically or otherwise.”
