Ruoyuan Qian receives honorable mention in Biopharmaceutical Student Paper Competition

Ruoyuan Qian, a PhD student in biostatistics, has earned an honorable mention in the 2026 American Statistical Association Biopharmaceutical Section Student Paper Competition for her paper, “A Cautionary Note for Borrowing External Controls in Clinical Trials.”

This acknowledgement celebrates her thoughtful and well-executed work on an important topic in clinical trial design. Qian will be recognized during this year’s Joint Statistical Meetings in Boston.
