Biostatistics

Biography

Dr. Chung is a professor and the division chief of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University. He is also a faculty member of Ohio State's Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Biostatistics, the director of the Biomedical Informatics Shared Resource at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, and a member of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics in Immuno-Oncology within the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology.

Dr. Chung received a PhD in statistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the mentorship of Dr. Sunduz Keles, and postdoctoral training in bioinformatics/biostatistics at Yale University under the supervision of Dr. Hongyu Zhao. His research group has developed statistical and machine learning models for high-dimensional genomic data analysis, biomedical big data mining and integrative analysis of these datasets. Dr. Chung has published more than 120 research papers in leading bioinformatics and biostatistics journals, which have been cited more than 5,800 times in the past five years. Dr. Chung has also served as the principal investigator leading multiple National Institutes of Health funded research projects.
