Indra Leyva Cook

Indra Leyva Cook  brings a dynamic mix of student support, academic insight and alumni relations to her work, fostering meaningful connections that help alumni stay engaged and invested in the success of current students. Indra has been part of the Buckeye community since 2008, serving under the Office of Student Life at The Ohio State University. With a career in higher education that began in 1996, Indra brings a wealth of experience to her current role.
  
In addition to her academic work, Indra is an active media producer. She has created short films that bring visibility to the experiences of minoritized populations in the United States, using visual storytelling as both a pedagogical tool and a form of cultural advocacy.
  
Indra earned her BA in communications from La Universidad del Sol in Mexico and her MA in management from Antioch University McGregor in Ohio. She has also completed doctoral coursework in Latino and Latin American literature and cultures at The Ohio State University.
  
A lifelong advocate for equity and belonging, Indra’s commitment to diversity is evident in everything she does. 

My research explores how film, literature, and emerging media across the Americas reflect and influence socio-political dynamics. I analyze narrative structures, aesthetics, and themes to examine how media critiques political and cultural discourses. Drawing from media studies, cultural theory, and political analysis, my work investigates the power of storytelling in shaping public perception and societal transformation.
