Biography
Working at the One Health interface, Raees Paul aims to address the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Paul earned his PhD in medical microbiology from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh in India with a focus on antifungal resistance and pathogenesis.
He has experience in uncovering the mechanistic basis of antifungal resistance and conducting genomic surveillance of antifungal resistance. His research also includes developing and optimizing murine models to evaluate the efficacy of novel antifungal therapies and to investigate how resistance mutations influence treatment outcomes.
At the College of Public Health his research centers on deciphering mechanisms of cefiderocol resistance and heteroresistance in carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative pathogens using genetic, genomic, and single-cell RNA sequencing approaches.
