Biography
Kyle J. Van Arendonk, MD, PhD, is a pediatric surgeon at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He is an associate professor in the Division of Pediatric Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and an associate professor (courtesy) in the Division of Epidemiology at The Ohio State University College of Public Health. Dr. Van Arendonk is co-director of the Center for Surgical Outcomes Research and a principal investigator in the Center for Child Equity and Outcomes Research at the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Dr. Van Arendonk completed his medical education at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, his general surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and his pediatric surgery fellowship at Vanderbilt University and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. He earned his PhD in clinical investigation from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
His areas of clinical interest include general pediatric surgery, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, chest wall deformities and pilonidal disease. His research focuses on access to surgical care for children in underserved areas.
