2026 Cech Fellows Program
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) is offering a summer research experience for undergraduates through the 2026 Cech Fellows Program.
During the nine-week program, rising juniors and rising seniors will join an HHMI laboratory — either at institutions across the US or at our state-of-the-art Janelia Research Campus in northern Virginia.
Students will be matched with HHMI scientists conducting fundamental biological and biomedical research that advances our understanding of biology and health. Throughout the program, students will engage in research and training full time in HHMI labs and receive mentorship from inspiring scientists at various career stages. Students will also receive a generous stipend to support travel, housing, and living expenses. In August 2026, Cech Fellows will present their research and connect with a national cohort of peers at an end-of-summer research symposium at Janelia.
