Autumn semester course offering — Social Determinants of Health: An Interdisciplinary Perspective
SOCWORK 5025, Social Determinants of Health: An Interdisciplinary Perspective aims to prepare you to work in a range of health-related settings.
This 3-credit course will be offered on Wednesdays from 2:20-5:05 p.m. in Stillman Hall.
About the course:
- It will prepare you – health related professionals – to work in a range of health-related settings with diverse populations through theories and frameworks focused on the social and structural determinants of health
- It will encourage you to critique how institutions and service provision are structured at local, state, and federal levels to improve health and healthcare access for under-served populations.
- It is highly interactive with content delivered through interdisciplinary guest speakers, discussions, student presentations, and small group activities
- It is open to students in education, public health, social work, city and regional planning, rehab sciences, medicine, nursing, psychology, and other health-related disciplines
Pre-req: Senior level undergraduate or graduate student
