Ohio State students Kaasvi Anshu, Lynzey Green, Jasmine Kim and Corinne Rice took home first place at this year’s College of Public Health Case Competition, held on Nov. 8.

This year’s case challenged students to create a comprehensive program to reduce gambling-related harm among college students, particularly young males at higher risk for suicide and addiction. The case was developed in partnership with the gambling prevention team at Maryhaven, a central Ohio nonprofit addiction treatment center.

Eight teams made up of graduate and undergraduate students proposed strategies that addressed suicide risk, education and early intervention while considering practical budgetary needs.

Green, Kim and Rice are MPH students. Anshu is an undergraduate student.
