The Public Health Communications Internship is a time-bound, project-specific internship. Up to five undergraduate and graduate students at Ohio State will support OPEN staff and faculty in planning, executing, and evaluating a statewide education campaign of recent OPEN research findings. The research findings relate to Ohioans’ knowledge about the legality of care for reproductive health experiences, such as abortion, miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy.

About OPEN

OPEN is a research group based primarily at The Ohio State University and University of Cincinnati that conducts and translates rigorous and forward-thinking social-science research about abortion and contraception, focused on policies and structural inequities related to Ohioans and people in neighboring states. Our interdisciplinary team assesses and disseminates findings related to reproductive health outcomes, equity, access, cost, and autonomy in the context of federal and state laws and policies.   • This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $20/hour. We anticipated interns averaging 4 hours a week (20 hours per month) for 6 months.

  • Two draft work products:
    • Draft an Instagram post countering common misinformation spread on social media, geared toward college students
    • Draft three talking points geared toward Millennials countering the same misinformation

Please note: the hiring team does not expect applicants to spend more than an hour on work products. The products do not need to be focused on reproductive health.
