Wexner Medical Center epidemiology student Internship
Jan.–Apr. 2026 internship will involve surveillance activities, data collection and quality improvement initiatives.
The Ohio State University is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. This is a spring semester internship that will take place from January 2026 through April 2026. The Student Intern will assist the Clinical Epidemiology Department in surveillance activities, data collection and quality improvement initiatives for the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC). The internship will conclude with the student given the opportunity to sit for the Associate – Infection Prevention and Control (a-IPC) certification through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC). During the internship, the student will be educated in the following subjects to prepare for future career in infection prevention:
- Introduction to Infection Prevention and Control
- Prevention and Control of HAIs
- Surveillance and Reporting
- Regulatory and Accreditation Requirements, Reputational Programs
- Microbiology
- Disinfection and Sterilization
- Surgery and Other Invasive Procedures
- Environment of Care
- Outbreak Response and Exposure Management
- Specialty Care Populations and Settings
