Biography
Dr. Jeffrey Wing is a social and neuroepidemiologist whose research examines how place, social context and structural factors influence neurological health, healthcare access and recovery. He studies Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, stroke, cardiovascular health and traumatic brain injury, with a focus on understanding and reducing health disparities. His work combines epidemiology, implementation science, spatial analysis and methodology to identify actionable opportunities for improving population brain health.
Dr. Wing has been with Ohio State since 2019 and currently serves as the director of Masters Programs in Epidemiology and is a faculty affiliate of the Center for Brain Injury Recovery and Discovery.
A major focus of Dr. Wing's research investigates geographic and place-based determinants of dementia and cognitive decline. His studies have examined patterns of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias across Ohio and Appalachia, identifying disparities in disease burden, diagnostic access and healthcare infrastructure in rural and underserved communities. Dr. Wing also studies how neighborhood conditions, historical disinvestment and social resources affect stroke risk, recovery and cardiovascular health. In addition, Dr. Wing conducts research on traumatic brain injury among first responders and law enforcement personnel, helping to advance understanding of occupational brain injury risks and strategies for improving recognition and care.
