Research Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Informatics

Lianbo Yu, PhD, is a research assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics and is the high-dimensional group leader in the Center for Biostatistics, where he collaborates with investigators from the College of Medicine and Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Yu also serves as the biostatistics core director for multiple National Cancer Institute project grant awards and applications. Dr. Yu's research focus is to answer genomic-based biological questions using high-throughput genomic data. He is currently interested in variance smoothing for testing differential expression in NGS data, sample size calculation for NGS data, data integration of multiple genotypes and multiple platforms, and prediction models with biomarkers.

Dr. Yu earned his master of science and doctoral degrees in statistics at Purdue University, where his research focused on developing advanced statistical methods for high-throughput proteomic data. He joined Ohio State's Center for Biostatistics in 2006 and the Department of Biomedical Informatics in 2014.
