Join the Professional School Orchestra
The Professional School Orchestra is recruiting musicians for the 2026-27 season.
We are pleased to announce the beginning of the 2026-27 Professional School Orchestra (PSO) Season! We are now in the process of recruiting musicians and welcoming our returning musicians. Anyone enrolled in a graduate or professional program is eligible to play, regardless of experience level (even if you have not played since high school). We are a full orchestra, meaning we have parts for brass, woodwinds, strings, percussion, and piano. Faculty and staff are eligible to join as well.
The PSO is housed within the Humanism in Medicine initiative at the College of Medicine. We rehearse once weekly on Tuesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. in Meiling 160, and we plan to start rehearsals this semester on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. We typically perform two concerts per semester (in early December and late March). This year, we are excited to welcome aboard our new conductor Steven Spangler, who has over 20 years of conducting experience and is a currently the lead orchestra director for Bexley City Schools and part of the Masters in Music Education program at OSU School of Music.
The PSO welcomes musicians of all skill levels. No audition required! Rehearsals are not mandatory.
Faculty, students, and staff of all the health science colleges are eligible to join.
