New research course for pre-health students
Ethical Conflicts in Health Care Research, Policy, and Practice is a new offering from the Department of Philosophy.
PHILOS 3341 (Ethical Conflicts in Health Care Research, Policy, and Practice) is a new offering from the Department of Philosophy designed specifically for students interested in healthcare and health policy by professors Wiggleton-Little (formerly of the Cleveland Clinic) and Dana Howard (formerly of the NIH). In addition to a curriculum focused on the ethical issues facing healthcare practitioners, medical researchers, and public health officials, students will have the opportunity to (i) conduct a guided longitudinal research project at the intersection of philosophy and their intended career and prepare a manuscript for presentation and/or publication and (ii) gain professional exposure to careers in clinical ethics, institutional research review, and healthcare policy-making.
The course will meet on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the autumn semester. Students who are interested, but do not meet the philosophy prerequisite requirement, can reach out to professor Wiggleton-Little (wiggleton-little.1@osu.edu) for a waiver.
