Biography

Dr. Joanne Kim is an assistant professor on the clinical track in the Department of Biomedical Informatics and the Center for Biostatistics at The Ohio State University. As a biostatistician specializing in spatial statistics and public health surveillance data, Dr. Kim focuses on developing and applying sophisticated statistical frameworks to address pressing medical and epidemiological challenges. Her core research centers on Bayesian spatiotemporal modeling designed to handle complex correlation structures arising from geographical proximity and region-specific population characteristics. She applies these methodologies to critical public health domains, particularly population-level opioid overdose data, health disparity studies and infectious disease surveillance.
