Appendix C: College of Public Health competencies

Review the program competencies for graduate degrees in the college.

The College of Public Health faculty has established competencies for all its undergraduate (BSPH) and graduate degrees (MPH, MHA, MS and PhD) and programs and specializations. The competencies are based on information gathered from applicable professional organizations including the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, Institute of Medicine, information from external advisory committees and employers, and applicable governmental standards or professional guidelines.

The learning objectives for the required core and specialization courses are aligned with these competencies. The assessment process for assuring that successful learners and graduates meet the desired competencies include objective and subjective quizzes and examinations, research papers, problem-sets, specialized practicum, culminating projects, student/graduate surveys and employer surveys.
