Job description

NOW HIRING: Community Tobacco Prevention Intern

(Part-time, temporary positions)

(Effective start date of the Intern job role will be in June 2023)

The Community Tobacco Prevention Intern contributes to the advancement and/or improvement of the health of Central Ohioans through increased local tobacco prevention, cessation, and education efforts. This position will work with and support the FCPH Tobacco Prevention Coordinator in their work with local communities and stakeholders in increasing and improving tobacco prevention policies, provide cessation services and assist in supporting the Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation grant through the Ohio Department of Health,   

Duties Include:

  • Serve as a member of local tobacco prevention-related coalitions and/or serve in other regional tobacco initiatives or groups.
  • Assists in identifying local health resources that could assist in tobacco prevention and the ODH tobacco grant deliverables.
  • Support the Tobacco Prevention Coordinator in the creating and maintaining relationships with local stakeholders to promote tobacco-free policies, and as they present model policies to stakeholders and local communities.
  • Assist in writing, editing, and collecting documentation to assure full compliance with grant deliverable outcomes.
  • Researches and identifies additional tobacco prevention or cessation funding sources as applicable or appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:

Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in public health, health, public administration, healthcare, substance abuse, mental health, or related field.
Any Tobacco-related work experience a plus.
Facilitation and public speaking experience a plus.
Familiar with grants.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable through FCPH’s provider; some evening and weekend hours required.
Non-smoker/ non-tobacco user.
