Job description

The ATOD Graduate Student Assistant supports the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD) program area within the Student Life Student Wellness Center. Provides one-on-one educational intervention services to students through Choices for Alcohol, BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening & Intervention for College Students) and CASICS (Cannabis Screening & Intervention for College Students); maintains communication with the Office of Student Conduct, Residence Life and others regarding records and referrals; provide individual and group interventions to support student well-being and development; facilitate health education presentations around ATOD topics; reviews data and generates statistics by creating monthly reports; assists in marketing and outreach efforts; attends all mandatory meetings; performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge of and experience with public health issues, preferably alcohol and other drug prevention and recovery programming; basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and audiovisual skills; ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations; outstanding communication skills, including the ability to recognize non-verbal cues; empathetic listening and interpersonal skills; strong decision-making skills and ability to determine the appropriate next level of care; must successfully complete all training from the ATOD Services Training Agenda; must attend mandatory meetings; must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that may include early mornings, late evenings and weekends.
