Project: Development of a contextually tailored and optimized smoking cessation intervention for homeless youth
Objective of project: Identify a set of smoking cessation intervention components and assess their implementation feasibility with a drop-in center for youth experiencing homelessness
Community partner: Star House, drop-in center for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness

Job description

•    Research Assistant with the Smoking Cessation Among Youth Experiencing Homelessness Workgroup 
•    Opportunity to assist with project implementation at the Star House
o    Recruit, screen, obtain informed consent and interview participants 
o    Deliver parts of the intervention
o    Tracking participants in an intervention study over time
o    Collection of biospecimens
•    Maintain research documents
•    Opportunity to assist with qualitative data analysis 
o    Review focus group transcriptions in ATLAS.ti (qualitative analysis software) 
o    Code text according to specific research questions using structural codes
o    Create in-depth codes to capture all aspects of community health center staff, allied health professionals and administrators’ perspectives
o    Assist with verifying qualitative data findings
•    Contribute to manuscript writing for ongoing projects
•    Human subjects training and research analysis training will be provided
•    Research Assistant may possibly split time between being remote and being at the Star House
•    Compensation may be available

• If assisting with project implementation, will need transportation to/from the Star House, a local homeless youth drop-in center
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams preferred but not required
• Experience with qualitative data analysis preferred but not required
