Come work for Delaware Public Health District's expanding vector program this summer!  Interns will assist with mosquito and tick surveillance, identification, and delivery of specimens to state lab for testing.   Interns will also assist with field inspections of catch basins and other sources of standing water and may need to apply pesticides to control juvenile mosquitoes.  There will also be opportunities to assist with insecticide resistance testing, rearing of mosquitoes, education and outreach and to work with GIS.  This internship could potentially provide data to be used for a research project.

This position will be in person in our office in Delaware, OH.  A county vehicle will be provided to intern for field work done during work hours.  A valid driver’s license and auto insurance is required.  This is a paid position, starting at $16.55/hour.  Interns would be expected to work 20-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday from late May to end of August.

Those interested should be comfortable handling insects, pesticides, and working outside in summer weather.

Preferred candidate should have some coursework in biology, ecology, entomology, natural resources, zoology or other related field.
