Advocate For Public Health Evidence: Use your voice for commonsense gun policy

Gun violence is a leading cause of premature death in the U.S. According to the CDC, there were 45,222 firearm-related deaths in 2020, and guns cause nearly 85,000 injuries each year. The American Public Health Association supports common sense gun policies, including a federal ban on assault weapons and laws that would require criminal background checks for all firearms purchases, including those sold at gun shows and online.

APHA provides easy access to use your voice with United Sates senators regarding gun violence at their website. This APHA factsheet on gun violence and prevention is also a useful tool to share with colleagues and the general public.
