CREATES Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowships

Undergraduate students interested in gaining research experience should apply for this 10-week fellowship by Feb. 16.

The Cancer Research Experience for the Advancement and Training of Emerging Scientists Program (CREATES-CPH) is a paid summer research experience for Ohio State undergraduate students interested in cancer-associated research. The college was an inaugural member of CREATES when the partnership was launched in 2022 with The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute and three other colleges. A dozen different Public Health faculty mentors have already participated in the experience.

Selected undergraduate fellows will immerse themselves in state-of-the-art research experiences with mentors within the College of Public Health and the OSUCCC – James. Our college and the public health landscape highlights that a research “laboratory” may be a physical “wet” bench laboratory, a simulation “dry” laboratory, the community, or anywhere that data-driven analysis can be performed.

CREATES-CPH summer program runs from May 19 to July 25. It includes a $15.78/hour stipend and invaluable personalized mentorship by faculty and staff investigators.

The experience is a full-time position with selected fellows working 38 hours per week and requiring they be in Columbus for all 10 weeks of the program.

No prior research experience is expected, and preference will be given to current freshmen, sophomores and juniors.
