Overview

Experiential Learning in Sustainability: An International
Perspective (ELSIP) is an educational program offering four paid credit-earning
internships to OSU students. ELSIP is supported by ENGIE, the world’s largest
energy company and a leader in global energy. ELSIP is created under STILSA
(Students in Life Sciences Abroad), an umbrella program promoting global education
at OSU in collaboration with the school of environment and natural resources and
ASC career success. Through ELSIP, students will be provided an understanding into
complex challenges and issues in sustainability. With an intentional emphasis on the transition to low carbon
economy, selected interns will adapt an existing sustainability-focused educational workshop (2tonnes)
developed in France into a US-relevant version.

Schedule

This internship is a one-year commitment (with an approximate and variable workload of 10-12
hours/week) and will be completed entirely remotely. The internship will start beginning of October 2024
following the selection of the interns. English is the language of communication.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The goal is to enhance the awareness of an American audience and
stimulate active participation in building a global sustainable future. Interns will be collaborating with a
France-based team of experts led by Clothilde Cohen-Dujardin, the founder of Movactory. Interns will
research, analyze, collect, and present US carbon emission data in six key areas that are relevant to
transition to a low carbon economy, namely transport, food and agriculture, housing, goods, and services.
Interns will have regularly organized sessions on Zoom.

Required Qualifications

Students enrolled at OSU and seeking a B.S. or M.S. degree, graduated
undergraduates or graduated Master students from OSU in any major with a sincere interest in
sustainability. Strong communication skills and willingness to learn how to navigate cultural differences are
required. Ideal candidates are highly motivated, adaptable, and mature individuals who can work
independently. Interns must have access to a computer and high-speed internet during the entire duration
of the internship.

Compensation / Benefits

Students will receive a stipend ($6,000) disbursed in three installments. Interns
must enroll in a class based in the department of Molecular Genetics (Dr. P. Hamel, instructor of record).
Upon completion of the internship, students will earn 2 credits. Students will be trained to become certified
2tonnes workshop facilitators at the end of the internship.
