Undergraduates from groups historically underrepresented in science are encouraged to apply for the Population Association of America's (PAA) undergraduate workshop.
The association is holding its annual meeting April 18-20 in Columbus. The conference includes research on health disparities, immigration, sexual and reproductive health, and many other topics related to public health. As part of this conference, PAA organizes a workshop for undergraduates from groups historically underrepresented in science to introduce them to the field.

April 17, 2024
Undergraduates will participate in seminars and activities designed to introduce population research and educate them about applying to and succeeding in graduate school. These seminars will be created and conducted by senior scholars and professionals of color with support from PAA. There will be multiple opportunities to meet a wide range of demographers at the peak of their careers.
April 18, 2024
Participants will attend research sessions with a senior scholar. Research sessions at the PAA Annual Meeting cover various topics including health, childbearing, family structure, immigration, mortality, race and racism, education and much more.

Interested students can either be nominated by faculty or self-nominate through an online form. Applications are due March 15. Transportation, meals, lodging and conference registration are provided.
