September is National Recovery Month, a time dedicated to supporting people who are in or exploring recovery and educating their supporters on how to be recovery allies.
According to the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction, an estimated 1 in 5 Ohio residents live with a mental health or substance use disorder. Ohio State provides resources for students who are in recovery or who may want to change their relationship to substance use. The Student Life Student Wellness Center Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) offers weekly group meetings, peer support, educational resources, scholarships, and fun social events such as sober tailgates during Buckeye football season. The Student Wellness Center will be offering programming throughout the month of September centered around celebrating recovery.
