Summer Research Experience in Puerto Rico

Funded by the National Cancer Institute, the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Training Program will be hosted by the University of Puerto Rico May 28-Aug. 2.

The research training program aims to increase the pool of graduate students and recent graduates to pursue a doctoral degree and/or a career in cancer prevention and control research, with a focus on Hispanic health and health disparities.

It is recruiting 25 graduate/health professions students and recent graduates from all racial/ethnic groups and cultural backgrounds to participate in a 10-week hands-on full-time research experience in San Juan, Puerto Rico under the supervision of an assigned research mentor, based on the trainee’s interest. Some trainees, prior to approval by the program management and the mentor, might extend their experience for up to 15 weeks. The program also provides seminars and workshops for trainees.

Applications are due Jan. 19. Contact Camila V. Elías Arroyo at capac@cccupr.org with questions about this opportunity.
