CPH undergraduates win national trivia competition

The team, made up of Casey Cen, Sarah Grim, Mindy Hoang, Maria Lucas, Nick Rushlow, Ajay Saraf and Elli Schwartz, won the grand prize of $1,000. They were coached by doctoral student Brent Emerson and doctoral candidate Robert Hood. 

The Scholar Bowl is an annual national competition for undergraduate students interested in public health. Teams compete in two types of competitions: a quiz bowl and trivia round, followed by a case competition in which students must develop a creative solution to a public health issue presented.

CPH students raise over $2,000 for Ohio State’s BuckeyeThon

A team of public health students raised over $2,000 during Ohio State’s BuckeyeThon in February. This was the first team led by public health students to participate in the annual 24-hour dance marathon.

“It was an amazing experience to participate in this year’s BuckeyeThon,” says undergraduate public health student Kyle Bader, one of three team captains. “I was really proud to start the College of Public Health team and I hope we can continue our support in the future.”

CPH students travel to Washington, D.C., for second annual policy trip

Twenty-four CPH students traveled to Washington, D.C. over spring break for a crash course in public health policy and advocacy. This second annual trip, led by Dean William Martin, MD, and accompanying staff, allowed students to explore important public health issues like infant mortality, addiction, gun safety, prescription drugs, human trafficking and One Health.
