Mentoring Better: Establishing Goals and Maintaining Mental Health

Graduate school can be stressful. Join the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) for the Mentoring Better program to learn ways to manage that stress. 

Dr. Brianna Davis Johnson will talk about how to use goal setting to manage stress by managing your professional development through degree and future career. Dr Johnson, is the Assistant Dean for Mentoring and Strategic Initiatives, Graduate School.

Next, Bansari Thakkar will introduce a variety of additional strategies to reduce stress. Ms. Thakkar is Senior Staff Therapist, Office of Student Life Counseling and Consultation Service.

Finally, you will be able to discuss these themes and ideas with your peers in small discussion groups.

This in-person program is designed both for graduate students, and for mentors—everyone in the mentor/mentee relationship needs to understand the challenges of graduate education and how to mitigate them. In this way, the whole mentoring experience can be made better.
