Join us for a discussion of "The Black Angels: The Untold Story of the Nurses Who Helped Cure Tuberculosis" by Maria Smilios. This book tells the story of Black nurses who moved from the deep south to New York City during the tuberculosis pandemic. For decades, they risked their lives while caring for the most disadvantaged residents in the days before antibiotics were widely available. All are welcome to participate in this free virtual event!
