Public Health Connects is an educational series designed to help deepen understanding of different cultures and communities in central Ohio.

In this Public Health Connects event, colleagues from Columbus Public Health will share their work and experiences to advance health equity within refugee, immigrant and migrant communities in Central Ohio. A representative from Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services will also discuss that organization's current efforts to support the health and well-being of these communities.

Come with your curiosity. Come with your questions. Come to learn something new.

National Public Health Week service project

As a part of National Public Health Week, April 7-11, the College of Public Health will collect food and household items most needed by community members served by Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services, a nonprofit that helps new arrivals from more than 80 countries establish roots and gain self-sufficiency in Central Ohio. Donation boxes will be available in Cunz Hall during the week to accept contributions.

About Public Health Connects

Public Health Connects is an educational series designed to help deepen understanding of different cultures and communities in central Ohio.

In each event, members from central Ohio communities will share:

  • insights into their culture and community
  • how they have made their mark in the capital city
  • about their significant cultural events and how they celebrate their community
  • the public health issues the community faces

Attendees also will experience the culture through food in this lunch-and-learn style event.

Public Health Connects was developed by the College of Public Health’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Excellence committee.
