A conference designed to lift and empower women in academic medicine and biomedical science through sharing resources, professional development, education and connection.
CommUNITYten aims to unite women-identifying and marginalized or minoritized gender participants, as well as advocates and allies of any gender in the medical, health, or biomedical sciences field from the BigTen and relevant industry companies. The conference is open to all to network, share resources, learn and grow professionally, and generate momentum to continue to improve gender equity at their respective institutions.
This inaugural conference, hosted this year at The Ohio State University, features engaging workshops including:
-
science communication training from the Alan Alda Center;
-
a partner equity workshop from Kate Mangino;
-
nationally-known speakers on leadership, gender equity, and health professions/sciences;
-
panels of experts (including journal editors, those with experience building advocate/ally programs), networking events, gathering space for faculty of difference, creation of an environmental scan survey across the BTAA peer institutions, mindfulness activities, mini executive coaching sessions.
The College of Public Health is a co-sponsor of the CommUNITYten Women in Medicine and Biomedical Science Conference.
