CPH Awards for Employee of the Year and Excellence in Teaching

CPH Employee of the Year

The Employee of the Year Program is intended to provide staff of the College of Public Health with a formal method for acknowledging the contributions of individuals who are recognized by their colleagues and or students as outstanding staff members.

Excellence in Teaching Award

Dedicated and effective teachers are important assets to the College of Public Health and Ohio State, which is why each year we honor one faculty member with the Excellence in Teaching Award for their exemplary performance in the teaching mission of the college.

To nominate, provide examples of up to 3 of the 5 following characteristics in support of your nominee. The categories are listed below the Qualtrics survey link. Employee of the Year Award

  • Collegiality – Serves as a role model for exceptional interpersonal relations with CPH communities (staff, students, faculty, OSU, community) 
  • Service – Is viewed by CPH coworkers as having performed some noteworthy service within the CPH
  • Performance – Consistently demonstrates excellence in work performance
  • Inclusive Excellence – Demonstrates exemplary efforts to honor cultural differences and to promotes equity and inclusion in the CPH
  • Innovation – Develops creative solutions to challenges that result in more effective and efficient college or university operations

Excellence in Teaching Award

  • Student Motivation – Demonstrates the ability to motivate students in the learning process and stimulates strong interest in the subject matter
  • Teaching Effort – Exceptional effectiveness in using a variety of materials and methods, establishes clear learning objectives and presents subject matter in a highly organized manner
  • Scholarly Role Model – Maintains a thorough, up-to-date and futuristic knowledge of subject matter, strives for objectivity and intellectual curiosity and honesty
  • DEIE – Demonstrates exemplary efforts to honor cultural differences, utilizes teaching methods that integrate equity, diversity and inclusion into their curriculum, development and teaching
  • Innovation – Constantly seeks to improve quality of the teaching/learning environment, and helps students to reflect upon relevancy of information and to project ideas into new areas and/or into the solution of problems
