Geoffrey Carney-Knisely, Brian O’Rourke receive Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship

Geoffrey Carney-Knisely and Brian O’Rourke, PhD students at the College of Public Health, have been named 2023-24 Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship recipients.

This Ohio State Graduate School award supports the research and scholarship of doctoral or terminal master’s degree candidates for their dissertations or theses.

Secret shopper study highlights student research experiences

Long waits for appointments, out-of-date information about health care providers and the risk of discriminatory treatment are just a few of the hurdles facing Americans seeking adequate, accessible health care. A “secret shopper” project co-led by College of Public Health Associate Professor Wendy Xu aims to quantify these challenges and expose students to research designed to better understand and, ultimately, improve health care.

Julianna Nemeth awarded President’s Research Excellence Accelerator grant

A research team including CPH Assistant Professor Julianna Nemeth was awarded an accelerator grant through the President’s Research Excellence (PRE) program for a project focused on chronic brain injury and domestic violence. 

Nemeth is a co-investigator on the project, which brings together collaborators from the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Medicine and the Ohio Domestic Violence Network.
