As such, we are experts in research and forecasting, public policy, facilitating funding and financing, and acting as a bridge to convene and connect local governments to work collaboratively to drive holistic regional value.

Internship

The MORPC Local Government Summer Internship program is designed to provide qualified college students with the opportunity to obtain practical work experience with a local government within the 15-County area to prepare them for possible careers in public service. Interns work for a host for a minimum of 16 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week for a 14-week period. Interns gain applicable knowledge to enhance classroom learning through working with current government professionals as well as insights into the services provided by a regional planning commission. All MORPC internships are paid: Pay ranges between $15 to $20 per hour depending on the host. The summer 2024 internship program will begin on May 14th and will end on August 16th.

Typical Qualifications
Students must meet the following requirements:

30 hours of completed college coursework
Interest in public service careers
GPA 3.0 or higher (preferred)
Legally eligible to work in the USA
Reliable transportation to and from work (preferred); Many of these hosts are NOT located by transit.
