MHA administrative residency
MHA administrative residency
Between the first and second year of coursework, we help you find a site that matches your interests and provides hands-on experience working alongside skilled professionals who enjoy mentoring students.
Residency objectives
- Function as a full-time member of the management group to develop leadership, management and policy analysis skills through direct participation in professional activities
- Obtain practical information and knowledge about health services management and policy analysis
- Relate theory to practice throughout the residency to develop as a health care executive

“Completing my graduate summer internship at the Cleveland Clinic cemented my passion for community health and hospital administration. Working at a world-class organization that’s so mission-driven and dedicated to its caregivers, community and patients opened my eyes to the impact that I can have with an MHA. I learned that, even post-graduation, the opportunities for learning, growth and development are endless.”
Residency sites
The Ohio State MHA program works with students to secure health system residencies in roles that best match student interests and goals. Students have experiences in health care settings across Ohio and throughout the nation, including the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Cleveland Clinic and Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center.
Preceptors: Host a resident
The MHA program considers prospective preceptors interested in developing summer residencies for its students. If you are interested in hosting an administrative summer resident, contact MHA Program Director Kelly Scheiderer for details.
