Meet your Undergraduate Student Ambassadors

Eight students share undergraduate perspective, help with college events

Undergraduate student ambassadors 2023-24

The College of Public Health has launched a new Undergraduate Student Ambassador program, giving eight CPH students the opportunity to share their passion for public health and their perspective on what it’s like to be a student at Ohio State.

The ambassadors assist with college events where they share their experiences as public health students, serve as a resource to new and perspective students and offer advice. Several students participated in a panel during undergraduate orientation in August and have connected with new or transfer students one-on-one to offer guidance.

“Students should know they have someone to reach out to if they need to talk about classes,” said JOJO Beyene, BSPH senior academic advisor, who oversees the program. “You do have a friend.”

Student ambassadors for the 2023-24 academic year are:

  • Allie Cohen, Public Health Sociology

  • Joshua Ghosh-Groen, Public Health Sociology

  • Viviana Gomez, Public Health Sociology

  • Billan Gurreh, combined BSPH/MPH program

  •  Tinu Ijewemen, combined BSPH/MPH program

  • Noon Mukhtar, Public Health Sociology

  • Emanuel Tewolde, Environmental Public Health

  • Sarah Weglarz, Public Health Sociology

In addition to assisting with college events, the ambassadors are working to develop their own initiatives, Beyene said. They are also available to faculty who are interested in having a student representative visit their classes. Faculty interested in connecting with the ambassadors are encouraged to contact Beyene.

Public health students interested in becoming a 2024-25 Undergraduate Student Ambassador will have the opportunity to apply during the spring semester.
